The ice cream may have turned into nutrition bars by now for all he knows, but that's not what matters. On the other side of the tubs are brand news cartoons depicting Riki and Jason crying in each others arms while Zo (who holds Dax's head in his arms) looks at them confusedly.

Thank you, and thank you for the efforts to rescue us, Zo - I've left a present for you in thanks. When my children made dolls of cloth and wood, they often imagined them to be those around them in play. I certainly hope you are the same so that you can appreciate this gift.

*The note is wrapped around five small wooden dolls, shaped and painted to resemble Ruana, Dax, Jason, Riki, and Zo himself. The facial details are little but suggestions of features for both the size of the dolls and the lack of training in the hand that carved them. hi, jason, it's me again. though i guess you already knew that, since i put my name at the top. anyway, i have a proposal for you since saying please didn't work. how about an exchange?

is there anything i can do for you that will perhaps change your mind? i still really don't like the idea of us having to ninja our way down to our lab to confront you. not only is it rude, but it still just rubs me the wrong way. even moreso after our conversation yesterday. (though i guess by the time you get this it won't be "yesterday" anymore)

but after talking to you, i really don't think you are such a bad guy. granted, i still don't like what you did to my friends last time you were in charge (in fact, if you could leave rose and dave out of all your experiments in the future that would be really awesome, i wouldn't complain) but for some reason i can't bring myself to actually hold it against you. i feel kind of weird about this, given that nobody has ever told me a single positive thing about you, but there you have it.

Feedback: me again, hi. ok, so i had a thought last night. like you know how sometimes you lay down and just as you're drifting off you have a realization/remember something you were supposed to do. you've done that before, right? anyway, so lightbulb moment.

i get the feeling that you are not a fan of ruana either. you don't want to get eaten so obviously on some level, she scares you. yes, she's powerful, we get that. but don't you think if you unlock all of us that that fact won't matter?

there are some really powerful people here, as i am sure you are aware. and there are a lot more of us than there are of her. 2 + 2 = defeated ruana, everybody wins. i am not sure why it took me THIS long to realize this but then again, i never claimed to be the brightest crayon in the box.

just a thought, figured i would run it by you. take care, jason.

oh and one more thing! since i never really did say this, either on the network or in my last letter: thank you for fixing me up as many times as you have. i am sure for a while there you probably got sick of seeing me. but i have been getting better at the whole not dying thing lately and if i keep this up, maybe you won't have to see me down there ever again! Feedback: Jason, the life of a thief and a vandal is not one I wish to live. We only want to better our situation and escape the pain we are put through, and find a permanent solution before our time runs out. Help is not offered, so we are forced to act alone.

I do not wish to do this, to leave you and Riki with all the more work, and I do not want to be at odds. I want to be able to work together. I said I wanted all of us to unite, and I did mean all of us.

Have we not shown we can live with the truths you were afraid to show us? Certainly there are initial moments of shock and despair, but we are strong here. Please, start working with us, because I don't want to work against you.

Please, return to us our rightful powers. Between all of us, would we not be strong enough to make some difference for the better? And we are not afraid to enforce order if we must. If anyone attempts to damage the tower with them, we can confine them in the prison cells to serve a sentence, perhaps with a supply of the drug you use to suppress them. Perhaps even with the aid of your retrieval units? This is the sort of unity I envision, we do not deserve the mistrust that characterizes our every binding. (I believe you will find that any example you can name was in fact a result of that binding itself.)

If you cannot, under threat of death, I understand. But we've made it a pattern to accomplish such things on our own. Remember the words in white.

Inside is a letter and a pressed flower, though it's from the meadow and likely film. Still, it's the thought that counts, right? The contents of the letter read:]

I still do not appreciate how we have been treated thus far. It often feels as if you think of us as only toys and not people, like you think this 'rescue mission' of yours is nothing more than a game and not a serious endeavor to save people and fix the worlds. [She spent a moment debating putting more, but decided against it. A letter is the last thing to convince Ruana of anything and it's not the point, anyway.]

But thank you. I know it was not your intention, but I remember a night when I was in your room and you had me accompany you to other worlds. It has been a very long time since I have seen people simply going about their days without a care in the world or in the midst of war or who I had to cut down with my own two hands.

I do not know if it was real or not, but I appreciated being able to see it, to know that in some world out there the people I care for are happy and alive. I thank you for it.

I know very well that feeling the true state of my land back home would kill me. However, I'd like to request that you fuss with whatever must be fussed with — be it this faceless, wiry thing or your ridiculous glamour systems — in order to grant me the ability to feel the people of mine that are in the tower.

Feedback: I am writing this under the assumption that you are gifted with something very rare called "rationality" as well as a solid survival instinct. While Jason clearly demonstrated the will to survive, he is far too easilly swayed by his emotions, such as we witnessed last month. An irony, truly.

Jason would rather not defy Ruana out of fear of what she will do in retaliation. However, while that fear is legitimate, his reasoning is flawed. When the tower will be deactivated and all of us dead or stranded on our homeworlds, I wonder what will happen to you? Even if you can survive independently of the system, I suspect your usefulness will have run out.

Of course, Ruana has a plan to reactivate the power cores, if that letter is to be believed. But as she said it herself, we will all be doomed by next year, hence her plan is probably on the long-term. I probably do not need to remind you that you were the administrator in charge when the others put Dax's plan into motion. I doubt you are very high on Ruana's favorite list. Even if Ruana recharge the cores, you will not be allowed to live to see it.

Basically, no matter what course of action you take, your odds of not surviving the year are even worse than ours. The course of action consisting of just waiting until we are all dead is certain to lead to your death. However would you be to act now, surely you would have better odds of survival. That implies going against Ruana's will, but given the risks that certainly sounds worth it.

Dax's example taught many things. Alone he failed against Ruana and to accomplish his plan he needed the assistance of residents. He did succeed with the resident's assistance. Meaning if you want to survive, you will need to ally with some residents. Of course, you could ask the help of Dax's Heroes, but unless your desire is to have them shorten this tower's lifespan even more, it sounds like a terrible idea.

Hence the reason behind this message. I have proven many times I will do what is necessary to accomplish what I see as right. Of course, I do not trust you and I do not expect you to trust me, but I do trust our mutual will to survive beyond next year and to accomplish what is necessary to reach this purpose.

Riki, though we may take actions that indicate we are against you, many do not realize the simple fact that all of us are her victims, even you, Jason, and Zo.

I believe Dax once said that all of you are or were trying to restore the worlds. If this is still true, please consider aiding us. We can aid you in return, for we do not wish to see this tower die, contrary to what it may seem. We only need the power to be as such for something in particular, but when we can be assured our worlds can be restored and their destruction ended, or if we have been assured they cannot be, though I hope this does not come to pass, then we will certainly turn our efforts to the tower for those that wish to or need to remain here. We want the best for everyone, and this does include you. You do, after all, look after us, and after all we as a tower have done, trust me when I say I am grateful. To you in particular, I thank you for your art, though it's regrettable it had to be stripped to the canvas to be truly appreciated. Hopefully we can make up for that in time as well.

Your form of oppression might be a slightly different one, but because she gives you power over us does not mean that you are not living under her thumb just as we are. I wish to see everyone freed from her tyranny, and that includes you. As I said, we are willing to help you should you need it.
