Hello there! I've noticed that you currently allow one AU and one OU or two AUs, and while I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that rule, it does feel like it could lead to some conflicts. Like, for example, suppose two AU slots are taken for a popular canon character. This would prevent an OU castmate from apping into the game, which would be really unfortunate, even if it's not too likely to occur.

I almost wonder if it would make more sense two still allow the two AU slots but also keep an OU slot open for apps no matter what. While this would mean an additional version of a character allowed, it would guarantee that a canon version of popular characters could still app in, even if two AUs joined the game. Plus, it would free up additional slots in some casts which could allow for some interesting scenarios in-game.

Hi! I had to unscreen this so you'd be able to see my response, but I'll screen this again if you'd like. Basically the current reason things are set up the way they are now is because of how quickly casts can pile up in a game that allows multiple versions to exist at once. Taking the Homestuck cast as an easy example, there are twelve main kid trolls in the canon. Allowing one set of alternates means there are twenty-four, and allowing yet another alternate set means a potential for thirty-six characters--and of course there are more than just the trolls in Homestuck, so casts can grow massive very quickly here. The other option I considered was putting a limit on the amount of characters per canon, but I'm not sure if that would really be a better solution (though I will discuss it with the others).

I guess what I don't quite understand is why it's set up so an OU can be potentially blocked from apping. I definitely understand that there is that potential for casts to grow ridiculously huge (Homestuck in particular), but I don't think it would ever get to a point where one cast would monopolize the entire game. Even with the huge casts, I do see a lot of panfandom interaction.

That being said, I do think it's a better rule than putting a limit on the number of characters per cast because that could also potentially block interested players who might have awesome characters they would like to add to the game.

Originally it wasn't that way, but there are some characters who are only allowed as an AU slot (see the Homestuck ancestors due to their severe lack of canon and Hussie's tendency to suddenly dump stuff on us from out of nowhere, or our Majora who wouldn't be appable as an AU because of pretty much just being a mask in the game even if the manga expands on the role). To allow for the potential for two of these characters we decided to allow for two AUs to be in the Tower at once. It's a compromise, really, and if Animus gets big enough that we don't have to worry about casts completely overwhelming the rest of the game I'd like to allow for an OU and two AUs in the future.

In this situation we reviewed what information was available and deemed it enough, given how much information the series in general has, to create a character as an AU. This is much the same reasoning we use to allow Homestuck ancestors into the game.

If it was specified not the be the canon pre-scratch world, was an AU, and was explained adequately, it could be applied for.

A Pokemon character can bring their team, with each Pokeball taking up one trunk slot. Therefore, to bring a full team of six they would have to have only Pokeballs in their trunk.

Hello, anon! I understand your concerns here--the thought process of the mods in question was that Cee, our England player and another mod, would be able to deal with this and would warn properly for any reactions to this, as well as that it was thematically appropriate given the event going on, and not so much the implications at hand with connecting this to a currently living child. However, I understand where you're coming from, and in trying to pick things that would bother characters the team may have gotten overzealous.

Because this was our mistake, we will be deleting the comment in question and replacing it with something less tasteless. I apologize on behalf of the moderator team.

Hi, anon! We weren't going by group size--each group counted as one entity, so Zelda's group only counted as one option. It was completely random, though I can understand why you would be concerned. Would it help if in the future I screencapped my random.org results?
